From the Old Sixth Ward to Riverside Terrace, and across Houston, gas stations are being built next to homes, schools, and parks, creating unnecessary risks to health, safety, and our environment.
This is a problem in need of a solution. The City of Houston can help solve it and:
Uphold existing federal and local fire codes
Improve permitting processes and compliance standards
Create distance requirements between homes and gas station infrastructure, consistent with data and research
Protect residents’ right to use our property without risking our health and safety
